GRAND CHAMPION STALLION 2008 State Fair of Virginia Draft Horse Show
CHAMPION SENIOR STALLION 2008 Old Dominion Draft Horse & Mule Show

Ragan is a Grand Champion pinto Premium Spotted Draft stallion, a foundation sire of the North American Spotted Draft Horse Association registry (#F445-S). Foaled in 1998, this fabulous stallion is black and white tobiano (pinto), at stud near Williamsburg, Virginia. We consider Ragan an ambassador for the Spotted Draft breed! (read on)

Ragan is a proven producer of sport horses of bold color. He is of Percheron type with superior conformation, attitude, and number one calm temperament. People who meet Ragan always come up to us at events and comment that he is so quiet and well-behaved that they did not even know he was a stallion!

Ragan's registered name is Farbig Meister. He is by Wyoming Hombre out of a BHR Bryant's Flash mare. He was named Grand Champion Draft Horse Stallion at the 2008 State Fair of Virginia, and Champion Senior Stallion and Res. Grand Champion Stallion at the 2008 Virginia Draft Horse and Mule Association's Old Dominion Show. He stands 16.3hh and weighs a solid 1900 lbs.

Ragan is a black and white tobiano pinto (paint). He not only crosses well on Thoroughbreds for hunter/jumpers with more bone, scope and color, but also with paints, quarter horses, or other stock type crosses for quiet, sturdy trail horses or husband/boyfriend horses. He can cross with Gypsy Vanners for drum horses, or with shires, belgians, or clydesdales, for lovely quiet carriage horses or flashy working farm stock.

His stud fee is $400, with live cover and mare care available. We also offer shipped chilled or frozen semen, and will ship anywhere in the world. Here is a longer VIDEO of Ragan than shown above; please be patient while it downloads, as it is a large file.

Ragan has appeared on the cover of the Virginia Horse Journal and the Salt Block Gazette, and on television in the Richmond Christmas Parade. He was presented as the feature draft horse at Field Days of the Past. He has participated in numerous parades in the Virginia area. We use him extensively on wagon trains and trail rides, and work him in the fields at our VDHMA club Plow Days. His quiet, willing temperament makes him the ideal horse to pull our Victorian surrey for weddings and haywagons for hayrides and special events. We have even driven him 30 miles from Charles City to Richmond, Virginia, on New Year's Day with other horse clubs. See our Gallery for photos of Ragan at his events!

Ragan has sired colorful spotted sporthorses as well as Spotted Drafts. He is extremely gentle with the mares who are usually quite calm around him due to his experience and gentle approach to breeding. We are expecting quite a few foals this spring and will post photos as soon as we have them!
